I have recently moved house and managed to do it reasonably stress-free so I wanted to share with you the top tips I have for helping you to do it too. It doesn’t have to be the most stressful event of your life and can actually be quite enjoyable and here is how.

Work out your budget
Money is one of the most stressful parts of moving house with so many costs and unexpected costs you need to know what you have available. As soon as you have plans starting to fall into place work out the costs for everything. Removal companies London prices, conveyancing prices, the costs of your survey or other inspections you need to have done and of course also any costs for the mortgage payments!
Write yourself a timetable
What needs to be done this week, and what needs to be done next week? Writing all these things down can reduce the chance of you waking in the night thinking of them as your mind knows you have already got this taken care of. Is there anything you need to pack on certain days or perhaps things you need to keep available, for example, the kid’s PE kit!
Label everything
As you box and pack everything, be sure to label it well. this will help massively with the removal people being able to take items to the right rooms but also when you are unpacking you will know which boxes to prioritise. I have moved in the past and not done this and it makes for such a stressful move. What you think you will remember now you definitely won’t after the busy moving day!
Eat and drink adequately
Whilst it is easy to think that missing meals makes life easier it really doesn’t. When you are hungry or thirsty you are more likely to get stressed so ensuring you do not miss any meals will make your house move as stress-free as possible. Plan in advance if you can what you will eat when you are in the new house in the evening. Can you cook something in advance or do you have money for a takeaway? Whatever it is make sure you have planned it in advance if you can so it is easy and stress-free.
Allow people to help
Don’t expect to do everything for yourself, accept help from anyone who offers it so you can relax and be as stress-free as possible. If people offer to help then they are offering because they are happy to help so let them!
