Sometimes we get down; it is normal to have days where you don’t feel great or just don’t have that happy buzz around you. However, this is often a result of not having enough challenges or enough stimulation in your daily life. There are two things you can do, first figure out what makes you feel good, then take time to enjoy the outcome of doing it.

Figure Out What Makes You Feel Good
If you aren’t feeling good, it is natural to turn to solutions that actually cause further problems, such as alcohol, stress-eating, etc. Instead, turn around those dumpy feelings by getting your stress levels up some. Why not instead treat yourself to some eyeliner, pop your make up on and feel amazing.
You can do this by giving yourself a goal that is possible, but one you have to reach for. This small goal can be anything; just give yourself a time limit. For example, tell yourself you are going to get two loads of laundry washed, folded, and put away before you go to bed. What about starting a new hobby and setting time aside for that every day?
When you are not getting enough of a challenge in your life, you are not going to get the stimulation that comes chemically from your body when you face stress and a challenge, such as adrenaline and serotonin. Thus, you may turn to other substances to get that stimulation. Artificial stimulation often comes from alcohol, junk food, smoking, etc.
These will mimic the effects of adrenaline on your body but with poor side effects. Instead of turning to these side-effect riddled alternatives, instead, enjoy the real thing, set a challenge for yourself, then work to achieve it. Your body’s natural response will give you a little boost and help you not feel quite so down in the dumps.
Give Yourself Time And Space To Enjoy What Makes You Feel Good
Once you have met a goal, completed a challenge, or finished something that caused some form of stress in your life, it is time to turn off the go button and allow yourself to relax and enjoy the ride. You can’t relax and be stimulated at the same time, so let yourself be stimulated when meeting a challenge, but once met, allow yourself to relax. It does not matter how much the stress was or how large or small the challenge; once you are done, give yourself a moment to relax and enjoy the outcome.
One great way to build a way of feeling better about yourself is to set up a time for regular exercise. When you start exercising, you automatically get that kick or that boost that helps you feel good about yourself.
Go for a run, and then allow yourself to relax after. Swim and then sit in the sauna, ride your bike, then stop for a few minutes to enjoy the scenery. Exercise allows you to set a goal (run one mile, for example) and also provides you with physical rewards to boot!
If you enjoy the soaps even their storylines can help you feel less alone. Eastenders recently tackled mental health well and it is a great way of seeing others, all be it fictional, going through their troubles too.
